Draft Lottery Tonight @ 4:30

Nice to be back to the good old days..............where Clipper fans actually care about watching the draft lottery again (NOT).

Let's hope the Pistons pick does NOT win the lottery and our pick does.

I hit the draft simulation button and we got the 3rd and 12th picks.

So that's all set yes

Oddly enough, me too. It had us taking Jaren Jackson Jr. 3rd, and Collin Sexton 13th.

Oh wow!  Now we are TWICE guaranteed to get the 3rd pick mailmail

So even if you aren't watching and I am, we'll still get it.

I know some of you guys don't know how statistics work and get all confused about the probabilities of picking colored marbles out of a bag and how it relates to winning the GSW/HOU series and things like that. But this is how it works. I'm a professional.  It only gets difficult if both Mistwell and Myself are not watching the Lottery.  Then the odds revert to standard odds minus the two runs that we have already used. Its quite simple, really.

538 says we are 99% likely to get a top 3 pick.

If we're dreaming of getting in the top 3 just get us either 1 or 2. Though I do really like Jackson and would easily take him over Bagley

I'm just relieved that we kept Detroit's pick. The most Clippers outcome would have been for us to not move up and Detroit to win the lottery.

Yeah I'm fine just keeping the 2 picks. Would have been nice to get into the top 3 (with our pick) and still have 13 from Detroit, but we can still get some good players there.

NBA Draft.net had us taking Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Kevin Knox with these picks. PG and a SF. I don't think either will get more than 500 minutes of playing time in year 1.

That site lied! I blame JGlanton.

4 of the top 5 go to western teams. Blech.  Griz miss the playoffs for the first time in years and get a top 4 pick. Blech.

The Suns win.  Hooray.  Kings come in second.  Hooray.  Those two teams have been down on their luck and lost to us eight times this season so I am happy for them.  Maybe they will draft some impactful players for a change.  A lot of these teams in the top five will probably draft big men so they won't be chasing DeAndre Jordan with their money this summer.  I am all for the Mavs drafting a big and not bidding on Jordan.  Rockets don't need DJ and he does not seem like a Spurs type of center.  So Texas may not bid on DJ which is where he wants to go.  Second choice may be signing with the Clippers for less money than he wants.  I am down with that scenario.

Second choice is that he opts in and waits another year.

Yeah I realized that later. It's Sac who lucked out. Which I don't care about. They will blow the pick anyway.

Jerry West said last night that there were only six stars in the NBA right now worth the maximum contract.  He did not name them but I am guessing they would be James, Durant, Davis, Harden, Anteocuompo, and Westbrook.  That is it.  You can't pay CP3, DJ, Wiggins, Cousins, George, Melo, DeRozan, Gasol, Conley or any other of these wannabees the big bucks and expect to contend for a title.  Although if the Warriors win again Curry and Thompson are going to want to get paid.  And Embiid, Simmons, Mitchell are also going to be looking for max deals.  Tough league to keep guys and still have enough money for mid-tier players to stay competitive.

You wouldn't throw Curry into that bunch?

It's funny 3 of those players were on the same team at one point. OKC really screwed that up.

I would take Giannis over Kawhi in a heartbeat.  Kawhi is injured so he may be in the top six anymore.  But who knows what West is thinking.

He probably thinks Curry instead of Westbrook

No, IMO.  Their frontcourt has proven to get beaten by the likes of Bosh/Battier/Miller (2012), Diaw (2014), Nene (2017) and Favors (2018).  Those frontcourt players were the ones that faltered, and dragged the team down.

Ibaka and/or Adams look good in the regular season, but play a little worse in the postseason.

Didn't you or someone else say something similar in a recent thread? Replace Westbrook with Curry.

Last night's version of Curry LOL.  The guy looked like a G-leaguer.  Take Westbrook's triple doubles over that any day of the week.  Westbrook would be better if he were better coached and had better complementary players.  Curry does not even look like the same player he was last year.  Maybe he is still injured or something.

Just think of Curry playing with KD in OKC all those years instead of Westbrook.  Probably at least 1 championship.
I bet a healthy Curry with PG13 would beat the Jazz in the first round.

Curry is one of those guys that when he looks great, he looks really great.

And when he sucks, with his ball handling and turnovers, he looks extra awful.

He's the equivalent of a MLB hitter who can hit balls at the ankles for doubles or HRs when things are going good, and when things are going bad, he'll strike out a lot and look like he's practicing a golf swing instead of a batting swing.

Steph Curry is awesome.  He's a little hurt and underfit right now and Houston is exploiting that by going at him 40 times per game in this series and making him drive to score. So  shitty fans will shit on him. So other people have to play better. Dude bested Montrezl and Clint Capela and The Beard in points per shot this season.

I'm not very enthused about what's availabe at pick 12-13 so I really hope the team can trade one of those picks in a package for a decent wing player.

One of the things that blew me away about Curry when he played at Davidson was that he was playing with 4 absolutely useless teammates on the court with him, so the opposing team would routinely throwing 3, 4, sometimes 5 players at him to stop him, and he still found a way to beat them.

But this is the WCF and when the opponents focus on you, it's not the same as when a college team does...

Yeah he’s only become one of the greatest players of all time.
