This has to be our last "must" win game, right? Any more losses, as you've suggested Kandi, and the season is over........unofficially ,of course.........
Hmmm, if we beat them on Monday our head to head record would be 2-2. The good news is we do have the smallest edge on them in conference record. 24-24 vs 23-25.
So it looks like if we manage to tie them at the end of the season we will have the tie breaker. As well as a tie breaker against Denver.
Also the Spurs currently have the tie breaker over us. However if there is a three way tie for 8th between the Spurs, Nuggets, and Clippers we would actually win the tie breaker. (Assuming we beat the Nuggets on Saturday.)
cheers for the breakdown. Utah is a winnable game, Clipper starters just need to play well as the bench is superior to the Jazz . It would be refreshing to only be down a few points or even up when Trezz/Lou/etc come in. Need some big time DJ and T-Har shooting well along with Wallace/Jr being aggressive both on O and D. The Small Forward play has been pretty worthless lately (stick Wes back in? He was +13 in the Bucks win he started and also started in the Raptors win).

We probably should put our best defensive guard on Ricky Rubio instead of Donovan Mitchell. He has a better assist to turnover ration than Mitchell. Need somebody to shut down Favors too. That guy always manages to have big games against us. And yes DJ has to dominate the boards. I think we have to win this game or forget about the playoffs. Two losses behind Denver and everybody else is going to be too much to overcome with only three games left after this. This is a playoff game for us. Judge the players on our team accordingly.
Sooo all we have to win out and get a lot of help. I really enjoyed the fight this team has. Too bad they didn’t show it tonight. I didn’t see the game but judging by the score, it seems the team cheched out.
We actually overachieved this year. It is remarkable for a team with a nine game losing streak to finish over .500 in the NBA. Our schedule was really weird which accounted for our up and down season. We played a really soft schedule against all the bad teams in the middle of the season then we played almost all playoff teams at the end of the season. And a lot of the games on the road. Until we beat the Spurs on Tuesday we had not beaten a Western Conference playoff team sinc January 28th. It all adds up to being a mediocre team that does not belong in the playoffs. Got clobbered by the Jazz last night and it was not even close. Started two rookies who are not even that good. No defense in that first quarter. Lots of layups by the Jazz. League is getting long and quick. You don't have the defense teams will burn you.
But honestly, there is upside to not making the playoffs:
1. Lottery shot/higher pick
2. Makes it easier to fire Doc if we miss the playoffs
I would prefer getting rid of Doc but it's not the end of the world if they don't. He's not the best coach but he's not terrible. The real issue is getting Austin away from him.
When we needed defensive stops at the end of the first half he did bench Austin and put in Wallace and Thornwell. So there is some recognition there that Austin is not all that great of a defender and that Doc puts winning above favoring his son. Austin did have a pretty good offensive game. Austin and Wallace and Thornwell starting meant we had no point guard which really hurts the offense. Plus, those guys were not any good on defense either in that the Utah guards were killing us. Teodosic and Bradley are much better but Milos is terrible on defense too. Right now we are a pretty bad team. Would not be surprising if we lost our last three but I hope we don't.

Even without Austin, Doc is still the Norv Turner of the NBA. A horrible coach who was carried by a stacked team ('08 Celtics/'90s Cowboys) and always gets more credit than he's ever deserved. He still needs to be fired.
Jazz -7 O/U 211.5
Minn @ Den Den -5
Final four games. Tough game in Utah. If we lose, then we'll be at 37 losses. That might still get us in if we can win our last 3.
Pelicans 44-34, their last 4 games, @Phx, @GS, @LAC, vs Spurs. hoping they go 1-3
Denver 43-35, their last 4 games vs Min, @LAC, vsPor, @Minn. hoping they go 1-3 too
Spurs are about to lose tonight against the Lakers. They'll be at 34 losses too. Minny at 34 losses too.
going to be a wild finish!

A loss here and a win by the Pelicans against the Suns on Friday would eliminate us.

Need Sweet Lil Black Mamba Lou to come up huge today. 40 plus points. And please Dj show up when it matters vs Gobert.

TWolves are the team we need to avoid a tie with.

I think opposite. Wolves need to stay firmly 7th spot.
Austin w 4 TO's already. Damn.
We get no calls at all. Jr can't guard anyone. In matter of fact, no one on our team can play any defense.
We have tie breaker over Denver. Better for us.
^true. 12th or 13th pick
we are done. Put in Sam..............................................
Well that was a sad end to an interesting season.
Told you Austin would screw us over. Not surprised
Austin + Doc = no playoffs. This result was predictable to everyone except Ballmer, who's still buying Doc's excuses.
Also Blake "leading" the team for 50 games = no playoffs
But at least we know that won't be the case next season.

Hey, we are still alive until we aren't.

1. Lottery shot (even if it's small) + higher pick even if you don't win lottery

that was a "second quarter stop watching" kind of game. Terrible.
