Memphis -6 in this game.  Hollins has sworn he is not going to let Chris Paul take them down again.  They are going to do a lot of double teaming and take the ball out of his hands.  Foye, Williams, Young, and Bledsoe have to play well and hit some shots for us to win this thing.  Is Jordan going to continue to be the invisible man?  I don't blame Vinny for not playing him.  I swear he cost us six points of our lead at the opening of the second half last game.  Fumbles the ball out of bounds, misses a dunk, his man races down the other side of the court for an easy score.  Poof.  Away goes our lead.  We can't afford turnovers and he has been playing nervous which costs us.  Hence Evans and Martin get more PT.

We can win this game.  But will we?  I guess we will know 12 hours from now.  I will predict Grizzlies 96 - Clippers 86 for the most lopsided win of the series and back to Staples Center Friday for game 6.

Jordan played well last game. Let's be honest...it was a tough pass, he was fouled on the dunk and he should never have gotten the "T". Other than that he had a solid game.

We need Jordan to play well this game to win.  We for sure will need him to play better than he has to beat the Spurs.  He just looks over anxious out there.  He needs to find his rhythm and go with it.  This series is so close every posession could cost us the game if we mess it up.  Can't have any nervous nellies out there.

The start of the game for Memphis will be very interesting to me, I'll be looking for three things at the outset: 1) What adjustment(s) Memphis has made and how effecive that will be -- intensely focusing on Paul is the obvious, expected adjustment. Would that open up things for Griffin? Would it play into Paul's hand who likes to get others involved early? Etc. 2) Will they double down on using the zone? And 3) Will they elevate their intensity or betray some defeatism in their attitude? Before Monday's game they were confidently saying they should be 3-0 but for some freakish circumstances. Then they went out and got beat again. That can break your spirit or sober you up and make you come back ready to take care of business. Which will it be?

On the Clippers' side, I'm always afraid the lazy Clippers will show up again as they have so many times in the past after strong performances. Have they learned to sustain their intensity in the playoffs, have they finally turned the corner once and for all with this issue? Let's hope so. The signs are good; we haven't seen the lazy Clippers since the first 3 1/2 quarters of game 1.

We need Chris Paul and a few guys to come up thinking that this is a must win game.

We don't need DJ to play better.  I don't know why one would think that.  We've won 3 games without him playing particularly well.

We need one major role player on the Grizzlies to play poorly and Chris Paul and 2 other guys to play well.    And probably no one that really tanks.

...or we just need to rebound.  But we all know that isn't going to happen to the extent we want it to.

Evans is having a great series, but Martin is probably playing worse than Jordan.  He had 0 rebounds in 23 minutes last game, he's fouling a ton (16 fouls in 73 minutes, Jordan and Evans combined have 16 in 175) and he can't score at all (he's been outscored by Reggie this series and was a poor scorer all season).  He has a lower rebouding rate than guys like Mayo and Bledsoe in this series and is getting destroyed by Speights.  Martin is a very good defender, but the other flaws in his game have been catching up with him this series.

I would like to see CMVP3 to score early....If he is getting double/triple team, than time for Foye & Butler to hit there shots..

LOL..........oh ok. I guess that problem is solved then.

Every NBA coach playing against the Bulls in the 90s: "All we have to do is stop Michael Jordan, and we'll win!!"

I expect the Grizz will play some frantic survival defense tonight. What to do about that? Get the guys to concentrate on ball fakes and drives to draw fouls. Don't overpass and get picked off. Pass and cut, pass and cut and dish, and there will be more fouls and less chance of getting trapped. Frantic defense will have to back off or sit down.

Double-teaming the point guard is usually going to come from the center or the PF on the pick and roll. I don't think Gasol has the speed or stamina to run out on CP3 many times, and if Zach does it then Blake will roll free. As long as CP3 avoids the corners where two guards can double-team him, he should be just fine, if more tired. Bledsoe and Mo should have to play more PG minutes in relief so CP3 has game-closing stamina.

In either case, DJ should get open more. He will score, like, 8 or 9 points.

ALL the pressure is on Memphis tonight. The Clippers can play totally loose and free. It will be a nice luxury to have. They just need to keep the game close and give CP3 a chance to do his thang at the end.

Can you imagine the pressure Memphis will be feeling in front of it's home crowd if the game is close and they have to face Chris Paul again in that situation with elimination on the line?

He did not play well last game, he was terrible. Memphis is a horrible match up for DJ............but I think he can be more useful against SA.

He was not terrible. He had some nice plays and one or two bad ones. He played pretty good for the first time in the series.

And just to back that up. He played 21 minutes with 6 pts. (3-5), had 4 boards and 3 blocks. He had 1 turnover while Gasol played 35 minues was 1-4 from the field had 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.  Respectable stats for DJ.

Jordan did a pretty good job on Randolph as well (only 12 points, made less than half his shots).  Switching them was a good idea, for as big and strong as Randolph is he like to face up a lot, which Jordan is better at defending.

If any of our bigs was a problem was problem last game it was Martin.  0 rebounds and outplayed by both Speights and Haddadi.

Gasol with a skilled drive and reverse layup around Blake.

Gasol has 10, Zach has 9 11.  This isn't a good start.

Griff and DJ combine for only 4 points.

When the Griz shoot great early, then later they  shoot poorly ....  Clippers off to a slow start.  Still hoping for a Clipper game 5 blow out...

Nick Young sucks. I don't know if I've said that before. Drives right into a blocked shot insteald of making the right decision.

Our bigs are getting abuuuuuuused.  So soft tonight. No hustle on either end. This is like Game 1.  I guess that answers the question about how we'd come out tonight.

Well a Mark Gasol stepping on a shoe, with Griffin pulling away, is a lot of stress for a shoe..!    Aren't they wearing " Air Jordans"  ?

27 points, 7 rebounds

     vs.

4 points, 1 rebound

We got nothing in the front court tonight. Boys are mailing it in. Closeout games are easy, eh Bynum?

Nick Young misses a layup. Then is late getting back on D and Pondexter gets a 3.  -5-points and counting. Nick really sucks big ones.

At least we aren't giving up too many offensive rebounds tonight, letting them score almost everything time is really helping with that.

Down by 12 now and Grizz call timeout.

My last post disappeared.  Oh well I've made enough.

It's not the refs, it's that we are playing sloppy and they are playing well.
